The new French Ambassador Laurent Delahousse, disclosed that there is a big development between Malawi and Government of France which is yet to be launched on mapping of geological resources of the country.

Delahousse made the remarks Tuesday at Kamuzu Palace after presenting letters of credence to President Professor Peter Mutharika.
He said the contract is wealth US$12 million (about K924 billion ) that has been already signed between the two governments.
“It is going to be implemented very soon with a contractor whose name I know and will be announced publicly by the Government of Malawi it is not for me to do that, but definitely I think that once Malawi exactly knows what sources or sorts of geological resources there are in the ground this can be an additional powerful tool or driver for the development of the country,” said Delahousse.
He said another aspect they have discussed is energy, saying there is a situation at the moment and it is the ambassadors' hope that French companies which are quite active in particular in development in new laboratories can also come to Malawi as they are operating in countries of the region.
Delahousse said during the discussions they also discussed challenges for development in Malawi about the friendly relatives of France and the way in which it contribute the development in the country and the particular through action and operational French companies.
“I hope as am doing in Zimbabwe to be able to attract French companies to come to Malawi to look at the situation and at the main projects that are presented and prepared by the government, local authorities and private businesses so that they can contribute invest and bring skills, technologies, etc …
“It is for long term they are not looking for cash and land deals, they are looking at clever long term win to win business relationship, and I believe that there is ample possibility,” explained the ambassador.
The next to represent his letter of credence was the Israel Ambassador Yahel Vilan who said the Israel government is ready to help developing Malawi in Agriculture and Information Communication Technology (ICT).
“We already started the irrigation project last year at Natural Resources College (NRC) I will go to see how things are shaping up, and am also trying to bring Israel companies into Malawi for the benefit of the two countries,” said Vilan.
