TNM’s Chief Commercial Officer Daniel Makata said the mobile operator decided to reward its customers with free talk time as a token of appreciation for their unwavering support towards the company and particularly Mpamba. “We are grateful for the support that we are getting on Mpamba as evidenced by an increase in uptake of the service by Malawians. “ Last week our customers experienced intermittent services on Mpamba but we would like to report that all the problems have been resolved and the service has been restored to full capacity. Our customers can now continue to transact and enjoy a wide range of our services offered on Mpamba”. Customers are now realizing the benefits of using Mpamba for various transactions and benefitting from the convenience and great time and money saving that mobile money offers,” said Makata. Makata said the increase in the growth of Mpamba transactions demonstrates the critical value of TNM’s mobile money service as a catalyst for socio-economic development through mobile payments. “Mobile Money is the new culture in business and personal life. Our Mpamba service was designed to add value to the country’s economy by helping improve national payments and consumer transactions. The intrinsic increase in Mpamba transactions underscores the service’s utility,” he said. He reaffirmed company’s commitment in ensuring that Mpamba services are responding to the needs of customers and Malawians as the whole. “Apart from receiving and sending money or buying airtime, TNM Mpamba also provides an opportunity for registered customers to pay utility bills like electricity, water, GO TV and MASM subscriptions among others and I would like to encourage our customers to register on Mpamba so that they are able to transact these services just on their phones without queuing on the shops to access the services,” he said. Over 1 million TNM customers are registered on Mpamba.
