The management of Simama Hotel a subsidiary of Simama Group of Companies, on Saturday, handed over a donation of maize worth K2.3 million to 600 hundred households in the area of Traditional Authority Tsabango in Lilongwe.

The donation came as a relief to the 402 villages which are under T/A Tsabango who are part of some Malawians facing food shortages in the country as result of the severe drought and devastating floods which hit the country during the last growing season.
Handing over the relief maize, Simama Hotel General Manager, Hotel Karel Ludick, said Simama remains committed to share whatever the company realises as profit.
He said that is why the company has lined up a number of development activities.
The hotel, which is being run by renowned Bishop Abraham Simama, also revealed that this is a first of a line of activities it has lined up as it intends to give back to the community.
"Apart from maize distribution, Simama Hotel intends to do a number of development activities such as rehabilitation of Mlodza Community Day Secondary School, paying of school fees to the needy students, reafforestation in order to mitigate climate change, as well as introduction of sports activities for the young people," said Ludick.
T/A Tsabango paid tribute to the management of the hotel for the gesture saying it will compliment some of the efforts being made by other players in varied avenues in alleviating the problem of food shortage.
The T/A gave some advice to the people of Malawi to pray hard for the rains as at the moment the rainfall pattern is not good enough, giving indications of possible repeat of a food shortage in the country come next year.
