The mechanism of the promotion was that NBS was asking customers to deposit K20,000,(USD35) and leave it for thirty days without touching it.
Another mechanism was that the Bank was asking customers to fix deposit K200,000 money for more than a month.
Speaking when NBS Chief Executive Officer, Benadetta Mandoloma said the NBS launched Nyumba Yanga promotion on 20 May, 2015 and closed on 31 August, 2015, as one way of thanking customers for believing in the bank to handle their finances and also encourage saving culture.
Mandoloma said, the promotion was named Nyumba Yanga because the customers had a chance to win a house as a grand prize of the promotion.
In his speech, Minister of Local Government and Rural development, Kondwani Nankhumwa commended NBS Bank for the promotion.
Nankhumwa urged Malawians to embrace saving culture.
During, the function, Nankhumwa pledged to open the account with the Bank.
Kachala has since rejected to take the house offer and has since opted to take the money valued similar to the house.
Asked why rejecting the house, Kachala said he rejected the house because he want to strengthen her businesses.
