The summit has poled together many VIPs including Ministers, policy makers, regulators, service providers, investors and solution providers to assist in driving Africa’s connectivity agenda, linking up national broadband agendas to drive country to country broadband connectivity across the continent, from Coast to Coast linking land-locked countries with the under-sea cables along the coasts of Africa.

Blantyre City Council has sent its public relations manager, Anthony Kasunda  who is in the company of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority Director General Andrew Kumbatira, Presidential Economic Advisor Dr. Collins Magalasi, officials from the Ministry of Information Charles Banda and Enelles Nyale, officials from the Electrical Supply Commission of Malawi and other officials from telecommunications industry.

Smart City is of great significance in raising the overall quality and level of urbanization and in promoting the simultaneous development of industrialization, urbanization and agricultural and information modernization, and hinges on issues to do with smart government, smart industries, smart livelihood, smart traffic, smart community among many.

“Smart City is of great significance in raising the overall quality and level of urbanization and in promoting the simultaneous development of industrialization, urbanization, information and agricultural modernization,” noted the BCC public relations manager.

Unlike Lilongwe city, which ironically is the country’s capital, Blantyre has been receiving many kudos for its continued efforts in bringing many innovations for the betterment of its residents and the Malawians in general.

The summit also aims at assessing alignment of national development agendas with regional connectivity initiatives across the continent.
